About This Game The Second Sino-Japanese War is part of the World War II, but this brutal war in Asia was, for a long time, forgotten by the world. The war in Europe lasted six years, while the war in China lasted eight years. Moreover, Chinese resistance against the invasion had already started since 1931, following the 918 Incident, also known as the Mukden Incident. Decades of war and conflict led to thousands and millions of casualties within China, and the Chinese people persevered through a national crisis of unprecendented suffering. We commemorate the warriors who sacrificed themselves for the nation, and express our gratitude to those foreign allies who rendered their assistance to China in the war. "Company of Heroes: Far East War" is a modification for Company of Heroes, the product of years of work from many skilled modders from various countries and regions, who hold a great sense of historical responsibility. This modification is centered around the 1937-1945 Second Sino-Japanese War, in which players can command a company to regiment-sized unit of the Chinese National Revolutionary Army or the Imperial Japanese Army in battle. The mod pays close attention to detail to the depiction of unit formations, uniforms, weaponry, and equipment of the Chinese and Japanese armies of the period. Everything from rank insignias on an infantryman to the paint used on vehicles are made to be as historically accurate as possible. Notable units/call-ins: SNLF marines, Type 1 Ho-ha halftrack, Type 3 Ho-ni tank destroyer, Kongo-class battleship barrage.2. Central China Army-main Japanese army in China. Notable units: Kwantung Army reinforcements, Ki-48 light bomber, Type 92 Jyu-Sokosha tankette, Type 97 Shinhoto Chi-ha medium tank.3. China Garrison Army – also called the Kwantung Army based in Manchukuo. Notable units/call-ins: Zero fighter strafe, Type 89B Chi-ro medium tank, Sector artillery, Unit 731 mortar squad.Chinese Army factions:1. National United Front- this is the alliance between the Kuomintang and the Communists (the latter, later known as the People’s Liberation Army or PLA). It’s a bit weird to see Chinese infantry sporting the Stahlhelm (German helmet), but it’s historically accurate. The Chinese Army was at one point or another trained and supplied by Germany, Russia, US and UK. +Equipment and weapons used by both sides are fairly represented across all of the available armies or doctrines for each side.+Extensive unit variety.+Infantry-oriented combat. +Armored battles are fairly light tank affairs so flanking and maneuver are emphasized. The Sherman is like a Tiger II in this game.+Music from “The Last Samurai”+Donkey bombs and Kamikaze units. Wasteful, but gets the job done. Negatives:-Graphics and sound glitches abound. Also, models tend to disappear when zooming out.-Mortars and artillery are terribly overpowered in this game. They are laser-like in precision and squad wipes are common.-AI is broken on some maps, even on the mod-exclusive ones. It tends to camp an area doing nothing.-Units are prohibitively expensive. Considering both sides suffered more than a million casualties in this conflict, infantry should have lower manpower and pop cost. -As mentioned vehicles look bland and drab. Some of the camo patterns are incorrect. It would help to show the elaborate markings and insignia of the IJA tank regiments.-Retains the base game’s unit voice clips. -Weakness of the base game is carried over like less than optimal unit pathing and AI. Overall, this mod is the weakest among the available mods for Company of Heroes on Steam. The other two, The Great War and Europe at War are better, in my opinion. Nevertheless, it provides a fresh game experience for CoH fans.. Well i can say this mod is very good the only thing that dissapoints me is the bugs but the will be fixed in time i hope its challenging but not to much where its not playable. it's a great mod but can you pelease fix the launch error. Probably the best mod for CoH! Pros:- Interesting theme of the mod- New mechanics such as surrendering, gassing...- New textures for everything- New fun and unique units- Czech weaponry- Bad, but a translation for the Czech language (it's enough for people who don't speak english).Cons:- The AI is buggy on some maps- The AI tends to overspam artillery and murder you with it's micro-managing.- Some unit textures dissappear when on the edge of the screen.- Some units are really good and can make people ragequit (their fault, not the mods fault). only problem i have with this game is thje graphic glitches i can beat both sides-ish it is a pain in my Troops @ss but thy pull through. Honestly the most frustrating thing is that you spend the time setting up your units, planning, building up resources and so on.Yet, as soon as you come face to face with your opponent.. the game freezes?! No idea why. Maybe the game is incapable of supporting the insane amounts of sprites on screen with the bigger squads, but the game is not playable! Constant battle to even load the game and crashes non-stop during play.WILL SAY THOUGH, INSANE AMOUNT HISTORICAL OF RESEARCH AND DETAIL HAS GONE INTO THIS. AMAZING FOR HISTORY NUTS!!!. Very good mod for a very good game :D
